so lithe and limber, flexible of spine
slithy in the evening's waning light
glimmers in the dark, his eyes do shine
and justify me calling him a sprite

lifted on new wings, my heart does soar,
dynamic intellect is cause for flight
this one, i rarely think to call a bore,
and we lie talking late into the night

a nobler heart than many that i've seen
provides the metronome to which i sleep
a rhythm that is never quite serene
but the slumber it provokes is soft and deep

and now with wider eyes and rested mind
i strive to turn the favour back in kind
